The First Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation, who is still laying claim to the acting presidency of the football body, Chief Mike Umeh, has described the fire outbreak at the headquarters of the football houseon Wednesday as “nothing but act of sabotage”.
Umeh, who spoke with newsmen after inspecting the damaged secretariat, said the building must have been set on fire by some people who have “something to hide” at the Glass House.
The building, in Zone 7 of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, went up in flames on Wednesday morning.
Though the NFF said on Wednesday that no vital document was damaged, Umeh said there was the need to investigate the circumstances that led to the fire.
He called on securities agencies to step in and bring those responsible to justice.
He said: “What are they trying to hide?
“This fire incident is strange and unbelievable.
“It goes to show the extent of corruption in the house that we are talking about.
“It is all part of the ploy for some people to perpetuate themselves in power.
“This fire incident is nothing but sabotage and I am urging the security agencies to bring those responsible to book.”
