Men of the Delta State Police Command have arrested the killer of the leader of Udu Vigilante Group.
The victim, simply identified as Prosper, was killed by some unknown gunmen in a bar about three weeks ago in the locality.
A gang member, one Henry Mukoro, aka Kala, was also arrested and has confessed his involvement in the crime.
Few days after the leader of Udu Vigilante Group was murdered, Godwin Masajuah Migaga, alias Puffman, the chairman of another Vigilante Group, was trailed to Otokut in suburban Warri where he was also shot dead.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu, said their arrest exposed the hideouts of other gang leaders, even as subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the leader of the killer squad, Akpojotor Christian, on April 30 at Ughelli.
Kalu said a thorough search of the suspected gang leader’s house led to the discovery of two locally cut to size made guns.
According to her, the voodoo native doctor who specializes in the preparation of charms for them before and after operation has fled his house.
Two AK 47 assault rifles with 90 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the bedroom of the fleeing native doctor while the wife, who allegedly served as the gangs’ armourer, was arrested.
Meanwhile, the PPRO said one Solomon Olo, who allegedly sold the rifle to the bandits at N300,000 in nearby Aladja, was apprehended, even as she said: “Another set of two AK 47 assault rifles and 90 rounds of ammunition were found in his possession.”
