Sequel to presidential anticipatory approval, the Federal Executive Council has approved the award of contracts (additional works) to the various contractors working on the newly-established National College of Petroleum Studies, Kaduna.
The contracts will be worth N2,942,416,484.32, with completion periods of 30 weeks to 52 weeks.
The Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, who disclosed this to newsmen after the weekly cabinet meeting, gave the details as follows:
The construction of student hostel (Lot 1A) to Messrs Prince & Princess Properties for N1,048,566,008.75, with a completion period of 52 weeks; construction of student hostel (Lot 1B) to Messrs KashNur Nigeria Limited for N1,048,253,446.82, with a completion period of 52 weeks; construction of Multiple-purpose hall (Lot 2A) to Messrs Faranab Investment Limited for the sum of N551,059,476.25, with a completion period of 40 weeks; and construction of Staff School (Lot 3B) to Messrs Terraina Construction Limited for N294,537,452.50, with a completion period of 30 weeks.
Maku also said Council approved another contract in the petroleum sector through the Petroleum Technology Development Fund.
The agency had earlier secured presidential approval for the establishment of Information Communication Technology Centres in educational institutions spread across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
He explained that the PTDF has completed buildings under the Phase 1 component of the ICT project and is about to commence equipping them with ICT facilities and infrastructure.
“After considerations, council approved the project to various contractors, at various completion period at the total sum of N9,897,243,923.57,” he said.
The Minister of Information, said Council members were worried about the non-availability of gas to power the various plants, especially the NIPP plants spread across the country.
Consequently, Council approved contract for the immediate construction of Strategic Gas Supply Pipeline from Obiaku/Obrikonin in Rivers State to Oben in Edo State.
The contract, according to Maku, was awarded to two companies.
These are Nestoil for N19,250,001,456.24 and USD 192,500,131.48 and Oilserve for N29,520,429,031.33 and USD 83,924,564.75.
The project is expected to be ready in 24 months.
