The House of Representatives has approved the prosecution of the two accounting and auditing firms indicted in the report of the Ad Hoc Committee that probed the subsidy regime.
The firms are Akintola Williams and Adekanola & Co.
The position, taken on Wednesday, will be in addition to the blacklisting of the two companies and termination of their contracts by the Federal Government.
The position of the Federal Government was made known by the Ministry of Finance on Friday.
Debating the resolutions of the report of the Ad Hoc Committee, headed by Hon,. Farouk Lawan, the House today said that the firms should be prosecuted.
Though there was disagreement over the resolution, based on the positions of Hon. Akeem Muniru and Hon. Babatunde Popoola, the House eventually opted for the prosecution of the firms.
Also on Wednesday, resolution 38 was amended while 39 and 40 were passed.
Resolution 41 was also amended.
The House is debating Resolution 42, which indicted the Governor of Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, for the approval of N999 million in one day when he was the Accountant General of the Federation.
The money was paid 128 times in less than 24 hours.
