The League Management Company has invited the Management of the 20 clubs that have been pre-qualified for the 2013/14 Glo Premier League season to an interactive session on the new season.
Salihu Abubakar, the Chief Operating Officer of the LMC, explained that the meeting with the various Clubs’ Management will discuss amongst other issues the forth coming season and compliance with registration requirements recently transmitted to the clubs, the proposed security plans for the venues and the pre-season tournament scheduled to hold in Abuja from January 24 to 28.
Abubakar stated: “During the session the LMC will work through the registration condition for this season and plans for sensitization and implementation of the mandatory FIFA and CAF licensing conditions. It will be a platform to share ideas on compliance imperatives for the registration requirements and while we believe in the absolute clarity of the contents of the document, whatever is considered foggy will be illuminated at the session.”
Abubakar added that the LMC will also brief the Clubs on new safety measures at match venues as part of the overall strategy to sustain the attraction of the league to fans.
“The excitement generated by the League in the last season has raised attendance and this calls for structured security measures to ensure the safety of fans, players and officials to sustain the
interest already generated,” remarked the LMC official.
The agenda also includes the pre-season tournament involving the four clubs that will be representing Nigeria in continental competitions this season.
The clubs are Kano Pillars, Enyimba International, Bayelsa United and Warri Wolves.
According Abubakar: “The pre-season tournament comes up in Abuja from January 24 to 28 and will be played at the National Stadium, Abuja.”
On the criteria for picking the teams, Abubakar said: “The LMC considered it imperative to arrange this tournament for the teams to fine-tune their work preparatory to their various continental engagements having been on break since October.”
