President of Udinese Football Club, Giampaolo Pozzo, has commended the wife of the Governor of Ogun State, Olufunso Amosun, for discovering football talents in youngsters and taking it upon herself to expose them to international opportunities.
Twenty-two talented players of Uplift Football Team discovered during UPLIFTing Under-15 Grassroot Football programme, organised by the wife of the governor in April 2013, are currently undergoing a two-week Summer football internship at Udinese FC in Italy.
Speaking shorty after meeting with Amosun at Udinese Stadio Frivli located in Udine in Italy, Pozzo described the initiative of the wife of the governor to develop grass-root footballers as “giant vision”, which should be supported.
He said: “You have taken giant steps and we are ready to make sure that the kids remember their stay in the camp for good.
“This is a very interesting programme.
“We are interested in developing these kids.
“We have done it before and we would surely partner with you to do it again even better.”
Responding, Amosun appreciated the president of Udinese Football Club, expressing her determination to partner with the Italian Serie A club to take the Uplift Football Team to the next level.
Amosun, who accompanied the players to Italy, described the internship as a “fantastic experience” for the Uplift Football Team, saying the programme would expose them to the arts of the round leather game and sharpen their skills.
