The Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State on Tuesday faulted the ongoing delineation of wards and creation of polling units by Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Taofik Gani, the party alleged that the commission failed to invite its officials to the ongoing fora on the process.
The commission’s Chairman, retired Justice Afolabi Adeyinka, had on June 20 at a stakeholders’ forum in Ikeja, announced plans to create additional wards and polling units ahead of the council polls in 2014.
The PDP in a statement by Gani said: “Who are these stakeholders?
“They must be special stakeholders of the ruling party in the state.
“This may be a ploy to rig next council polls using polling units to be created.”
However, LASIEC’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Oladapo Olatunde, described the allegation as false, insisting that all stakeholders were carried along by the commission.
Olatunde said: “We sent invitations to all the political parties in the state, including the PDP.
“Some came and some did not.
“It is not our duty to force them to attend the fora.”
