Defender Afamuefuna Oko scored in the 69th minute for Crime Busters Football Club of Enugu to beat city rivals FC International 1-0 in the quarter-finals of the state FA Cup competition.
In a quarter-final match of the competition’s 2019 edition, played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, Crime Busters FC won to advance into the semi-finals.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Crime Busters are the competition’s defending champions, having defeated Rangers International FC 2-1 to win the 2018 edition.
The club’s Team Manager, Ebere Amaraizu, in his reaction lauded the team’s players and technical crew for keeping the dream of retaining the trophy alive.
He also thanked God for the all-important victory, saying the dedication of the players and Edmund Ndukanmma-led technical crew was very crucial in attaining great heights.
He said: “But more work is still needed to be done ahead of the semi-final clash and I urge all players and technical crew not to lose focus.
“It is expected that the team will know its next opponents and date of semi-final encounter within the next two days.’’
