Samuel Jatau, a PDP governorship aspirant in Plateau, says he will pay special attention to developing the entertainment industry if elected governor in 2019.
Jatau, in an interaction with some media practitioners and music artists on Thursday in Jos, said that he would also invest more into the tourism sector and make it a major revenue earner.
He said: “Plateau has lots of potential in the tourism sector. It has also produced many key actors in the entertainment industry.
“All we need is pay special attention to the two sectors. They go hand-in-hand and will make Plateau every tourist’s destination.”
Jatau, a retired civil servant, said he would use his wealth of experience to explore the numerous potential of the state to attract investors.
He said: “As an architect, I shall re-design the economic fortunes of Plateau and make it one of the major commercial centres in the county.
“If given the mandate, I shall revive abandoned firms to create more employment and utilise abundant raw materials wasting away in Plateau.”
Jatau particularly regretted that the entertainment industry, which is one of fastest growing sectors in the Nigerian economy, had been left to suffer, and accused successive Plateau governments of denying the state its fruits.
He also promised to support farmers with incentives and farming tools to make farming a viable venture, adding that his government would introduce policies that would attract more youths to agriculture.
Jatau also promised to run an all-inclusive government with an open door that would be receptive of suggestions from everyone.
