Nigerian flutist, Omatshola Iseli, popularly known as “Tee Mac” has advised the Federal Government to establish separate museums for war materials, maritime, food, and others instead of lumping them in one.
Iseli said that Iseli told the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Lagos that such categorisation into specifics had the capacity to attract international tourists.
He said that they would concentrate on specific areas of the people’s culture and tradition such as: cloth, history, maritime, war, toy, transport, food, and open-air museums.
He said if this could be done as was the case in the developed countries, it would bring remarkable improvement in the influx of international tourists.
Iseli said that tourists had their preferences on areas they would like to visit, experience and spend their monies on.
He said that the government should improve on its administration of museums for the country to yield good results for the economy and the individuals.
He said: “The developed countries have so much developed their tourism industry by categorizing their museums and maintaining them.’’
Iseli also explained some of the advantages of establishing specific museums.
He said that the open-air museum was about the preservation of the nation’s natural vegetation.
He said that it would teach tourists about the health importance of tree planting and how to keep green environments.
Iseli added: “The food museum will showcase the various traditional and modern cuisines, and their preparations.
“This will give room for innovations in cooking and enable tourists to see and appreciate them.”
The flutist said that both the public and students would benefit from such an arrangement as visits to specific museums would deepen their knowledge about the country’s culture and tradition.
He urged the Federal Government to ensure good maintenance culture and security at the various museums and tourist sites located within the country to attract more tourists into the country.
