Dangote, Young Shall Grow crash: FRSC confirms two kids, 34 others dead

The Federal Road Safety Corps has said it could only confirm 36 persons dead in Friday’s multiple crash on the ever busy Benin-Ore Expressway.
According to information by the FRSC, the 36 persons were largely from a luxury bus owned by Young Shall Grow Transport Company.
The corps, which had earlier given a figure of 62 deaths, apologized for the misinformation.
However, sources at the scene of the accident maintained that over 100 persons died from the accident.
The fatal crash occurred at Igbogui Market.
A truck owned by Dangote Industries Limited, was said to have one of its tyres flung off while on high speed.
The tyre of the Dangote Industries Limited truck, which removed on high speed, was said to have hit a petrol laden tanker, which immediately caught fire.
The fire quickly spread to a luxury bus belonging to the Young Shall Grow Transport Company, which was coming on high speed also.
Preliminary reports from the FRSC indicated that a tyre from the Dangote Industries Limited truck suddenly pulled out and rammed into the tanker, which caught fire immediately.
The luxury bus, which was on speed, lost control and ran into the blazing fire, consuming most of its occupants.
However, an FRSC team was on hand to rescue three passengers while 30 others died from the luxury bus.
The tanker driver with his conductor, in addition to the truck driver and his conductor were also confirmed dead.
Two children were also consumed by the fire, which spread to a nearby mechanic workshop, burning eight additional vehicles.
This resulted in a heavy traffic gridlock.
The Igbogui Market was also consumed by the fire.
Dangote Industries Limited is owned by multibillionaire and Forbe’s magazine’s Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
