A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus, has emerged as the new chairman of the party.
Secondus, in the early hours of Sunday was declared the new chairman with an overwhelming defeat of Prof. Tunde Adeniran and Chief Raymond Dokpesi.
Though nine aspirants were cleared for the election, others withdrew before the commencement of the National Convention of the party at the Eagle Square in Abuja, where the voting took place.
While Secondus scored 2,000 votes, Adeniran coasted home with 230 votes and Dokpesi 66 votes.
However, before the announcement of the result, both Adeniran and Dokpesi had rejected the outcome.
Before the commencement of the National Convention, Chief Olabode George, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Jimi Agbaje and Senator Rashidi Ladoja had withdrawn from the contest for various reasons as earlier reported by The Eagle Online.
