Prof. Charles Uwakwe, the New Registrar of the National Examination Council, has promised he would improve on legacies of previous chief executives of the council.
Uwakwe spoke on Monday in Minna after the handover to him by the former Registrar, Prof. Garba Abdulrasheed.
He said: “I will work with the mandate given me and will ensure that I improve on the standard already laid by previous chief executive officers of this organisation.
“I am proud of the calibre of staff in this organisation.
“I believe with the cooperation of all, we will take NECO to the Promised Land.
“The President has challenged all of us to put in our best to transform the education sector in this country as part of the Change Agenda of the administration.”
Uwakwe assured the management and staff that the new leadership would carry them along, but solicited for their support and cooperation and also warned that indolence and indiscipline would not be tolerated.
He commended the former registrar, saying that NECO’s image improved tremendously within the short period he was in charge.
The incoming registrar promised to continue to follow the template of activities left behind by the former registrar.
Abdulrasheed listed the giant strides made by NECO over the years to include prompt release of examination results, reduction in examination malpractices and cordial relationship with the host community.
Abdulrasheed expressed appreciation to the staff for their support and solicited better cooperation to the new registrar.
