An aspirant who failed to win in the just concluded rescheduled All Progressives Congress primaries of Hong local Government Area of Adamawa State, Hon. Eric Theman Dollars, has berated the party’s officials.
Dollars said the officials were biased in favour of a particular candidate against the other seven aspirants.
According to him, the party in shifting the primaries that ought to have been held last Saturday in Hong, was because of the simple fact that Halliru Adamu Lala, who was declared winner, would have woefully fail.
He alleged that the officials had the intention of rigging by directing all the aspirants to proceed to Yola, the state capital, from Hong and caged them in a hotel with armed security men to stop the other aspirants from seeing them.
Dollars said: “We are running from imposition from other party and this present administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari is known to be fighting corruption, but Adamawa APC is not fighting it.
“How can a place like Hong that is known to have high number of educated people in the state and they told us our delegates don’t know how to read and write unless someone does that for them?
“All the candidates didn’t write with their own hands that they will vote against their wish.
“It was somebody else was doing that for them.
“The party officials also changed the delegates list with different names in order to properly scheme victory votes for Adamu.”
Dollars, who is a grass root politician and one time a former Chairman of Hong Local Government Area, was surprised to get just a single vote during the primaries, which he considered a staged managed vote given to him to cover up the evil plans of the party officials.
He threatened to resign from being a card carrying member of the APC if Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow of the state does not sack all the party leaders in the state because of their interest in Lala, who was declared the winner of the primaries.
In a swift reaction, the Southern Zone Vice Chairman of the party in the state, Mohammed Zubairu Baba Oga, who officiated the rescheduled primaries in Zuberu Adama Hall in Yola, said Dollars’ accusations are just mere allegations of that of one who suffered defeat.
Oga explained that because of how the primaries was conducted in Hong on Saturday, it would have been characterized by serious crisis that might result in loss of lives and property.
Oga also said the state executive of the party vowed to conduct free and fair primaries and said they succeeded with that.
He said it was adjudged the freest and fairest by the general public in the state.
He said: “All Aspirants and agents agreed that any delegate who does know how to write, they (agents of that candidates) should write for him.
“Then tell me: where is our own problem?
“Because we want to please, to avoid crisis that can further escalate to something else and be fair to all, we had to sponsor all delegates to the state capital in order to have a clean primaries.”
