The Nigeria Football Supporters Club has thrown its weight behind ex-Super Eagles striker and Coach, Samson Siasia.
In a statement signed by the Secretary General of the NFSC, Rev. Sam Ikpea, the club expressed its support for Siasia to handle the Super Eagles going forward, after the exit of the country from the 2017 African Cup of Nations tournament.
It said this is based on his antecedents in handling the under 23 team, which he took to the finals of the 2008 Olympic Game in Beijing and qualifying for the Rio Olympic Games.
They further commended his approach to the last two games of the Super Eagles in the AFCON qualifiers.
The statement said: “The supporters club in line with the current realities in the country regarding the economy urged the Nigeria Football Federation to assist Nigerian coaches through capacity building rather than use our scarce resources to hire a foreign coach.”
