Alhaji Usman Bala, the Principal Private Secretary to Governor Abdullahi Gandjue of Kano State, has reiterated the commitment of the state government to improving the quality of education in the state.
Bala gave the assurance when the National Association of Kano State Students, Bayero University, Kano branch honoured him on Sunday in Kano.
The students presented Bala with an award of Excellence for his contributions to the development of education in the state.
In his response, Bala said the administration accorded the education sector priority attention in order to empower the youths and enhance socio-economic development of the society.
“The state government attaches great importance to education, hence its decision to involve all stakeholders in the management and development of the sector to achieve the desired objective,” he said.
The PPS said the decision by government to set up Education Development Committee in each of the 44 LGAs was borne out of its desire and determination to develop the sector.
“These committees are engaged in coming up with new and modern strategies of improving our educational standard,” he said and urged the students to reciprocate the gesture by concentrating on their studies.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the association, Abdullahi Warawa, said the decision to honour Bala was informed by their desire to encourage him to do more in the area of providing scholarship to indigent students
Warawa said: “It is our hope and prayer that you will continue to do more, especially in the area of providing scholarship to students who are from poor families.”
