98-year-old man kidnapped after receiving money from US

Ninety-eight-year-old Pa A. Uguoala has become the latest victim of kidnappers at Abia State.
According to police sources, Uguoala was last weekend at about 12.30am at his Egbeyi Ofosi village abducted by a three-man gang of kidnappers who took him to Amiyi village, Nsiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, known in the community as a philanthropist and community leader, was said to have recently received some valuables and cash from one of his sons based in the United States of America.
The source added: “Uguoala was asleep with his grand children when the kidnappers struck. A ransom of N7 million is being demanded by the kidnappers who stormed the village on two motorbikes.”
Meanwhile, the Assistant Inspectors-General of Police in charge of Zone 5 (Benin City) and Zone 9 (Umuahia) have ordered their various Commissioners of Police to team up and fish out the kidnappers and other armed bandits in their areas.
Another source said an order, given earlier by the AIG Zone 5, Alhaji Hashimu Argungu, led to the killing of six kidnappers in Edo State two weeks ago.
According to the source, who pleaded anonymity, the state Commissioner of Police, Folusho Adebanjo, had not only put his officers on their toes, but always led his men in operational patrols, rather than remain in his air conditioned office like most of his counterparts.
As the search for Pa Uguoala intensifies, the squadron Commander of Mopol 55 in Abia State, Dan Kwano, has embarked on night and weekend patrols.
The officer has promised worried and frantic members of Pa Uguoala’s family that policemen in the state will not rest until the grandpa was rescued and reunited with his family.
