The Lagos State Police Command has said that no fewer than 37 policemen were killed and 146 injured during the October 2020 #EndSARs protest.
This was made known by the Spokesman of the Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, on his Twitter handle on Wednesday.
Hundeyin, who spoke on the second anniversary of the shooting by the Nigerian Army at #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos, tweeted: “My heart goes out to the dependents, families and friends of all police officers whose lives were cut short during the 2020 #endsars protests.
“They paid the supreme price.
“We forever respect them.
“Nine Police Area Commands destroyed/vandalized, Forty-eight Police Posts destroyed/vandalized.
“Sixteen Police Barracks destroyed/vandalized.
“Nine Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) destroyed/vandalized.
“One hundred and eighty-two personal vehicles of Police officers destroyed/vandalized,
“One hundred and forty-six Police officers injured, Thirty-seven Police officers killed.
“Lessons were learnt on all sides.
“We are all Nigerians.
“And together, we will take this great nation to greater height.”
