A Kaduna Chief Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday sentenced a 30-year-old man, Emmanuel David, to one month in correctional centre for stealing two plasma television sets and two HP laptops.
The suspect, of Sabon Tasha in Kaduna, was charged with criminal trespass, house breaking and theft.
The Chief Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, however, gave the convict an option of N10,000 fine after he had pleaded guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Leo, had told the court that a patrol team led by Inspector Garba Hassan arrested the convict along Yakowa Road, Kaduna on January 4.
He informed the court that David broke into the residence of one Pascal Blessed at Ungwan Pama, Kaduna and made away with two LG plasma television sets and two HP laptops.
Leo added that during police investigation, the convict confessed to the crime and the items were recovered from him.
The offence, he said, contravened Sections 348, 347 and 217 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
