A former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomole has declared that insecurity has link with unemployment.
Oshiomole, a former National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) made the declaration in FCT, Abuja, Wednesday, while making formal declaration to join the APC presidential race.
The former APC National Chair in his lengthy declaration speech stressed that when more able and capable hands are productively engaged; the law enforcement officers well remunerated, the crime rate would be substantially be abated and security operatives would perform their duty optimally.
The APC Chieftain who lamented the impact of strike on the public Universities undergraduates’ academics sympathized with members of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over inability to properly articulate their demands and horrible salaries, promising to overhaul and improve the Universities salaries payment system.
Oshiomole who dwelt extensively on economic issues in his declaration address called for rejuvenation of the country’s textile industry, saying if this was achieved, it would generate huge employment and stimulate the economy.
He added that if the feat was achieved as the President, he would sign the executive order that would compel all the security outfits to use the locally made fabrics as their uniforms, as well as public officers.
He stressed if elected, he would ensure that the security agencies corps uniforms are made and tailored in Nigeria.
Comrade Oshiomole who also linked good governance to effective tax administrative system said his government would lay emphasis on taxes, so as to deliver on many of its good promises.
He asserted as a successful Labour Leader and Governor, he is well groomed, prepared, positioned to deliver the much desired good governance to the most populous black nation.
Meanwhile, two other ruling APC presidential aspirants, including Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio have also declared their interest in Ado-Ekiti and Uyo, Akwa Ibom State respectively Wednesday.
