Popular Nigerian Singer, Omawumi, has described the candidates of the country’s two major political parties for next year’s presidential election, incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, as “an incompetent old man and somebody that is somewhat corrupt”.
Omawumi gave the description during what appeared a live concert, which video is on Twitter.
Speaking to her audience before going into one of her songs, she said: “Will you vote?
“The two major parties are representing an incompetent old man and somebody that is somewhat corrupt.
“Common, it is painful.
“It starts with you and me.
“Let’s do the right things in our hearts and gradually we will overcome all these things.
“Our systems will start working.
“Education will start working.
“Health will start working.
“And Nigeria can be great, literally.”
Omawumi then moved into a song: “It starts with you and me.”
