As the campaign for the various elective positions begin, the Niger East Senatorial District candidate of Legacy Party of Nigeria, Ambassador Matthew Afilomy Nuhu, has assured that he will ensure the full setting up of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission to better the lives of his people.
He said if elected in the 2019 general elections, he will fight to put it in its proper position.
Ambassador Nuhu stated this at the flag off of his senatorial campaign at Dikko in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State, adding that when fully established, HYPPADEC would benefit the people of the zone immensely.
Nuhu also decried the state of road networks, schools and health care facilities among other social amenities in the senatorial area.
Accordingly, he said: “The zone lacks a lot of basic amenities.
“I am aware that these problems are not only peculiar to the zone B, but to the other zones as well.
“There are schools in Minna, the state capital, that don’t have chairs how much more places like Erena, Gusoro and many others that are in the interior.”
Furthermore, Nuhu said if elected he will support private and public investment in apprenticeship, encourage businesses to thrive so as to create job opportunities for women and youths to be empowered.
Ambassador Nuhu disclosed further that it is the turn of Gurara/Suleja emirate to produce the next senator of the zone, adding: “It has always been Minna Emirate which is one sided for too long and we are no longer comfortable with that.”
Speaking, the state Chairman of LPN, Abdullahi Yarima, urged candidates of the party and those across other political parties to conduct themselves peacefully during their campaign.
Yarima said: “Politicans must shun politics of bitterness and thuggery, shun the use of fight to force people to vote them.
“Every candidate should go and prepare his or her manifesto and objectives to let people know why they are coming out and what they have for them if voted.”
