Kaduna United Football Club on Wednesday beat visiting Dolphin FC of Port Harcourt 1-0 in a week 32 match played at the Kaduna Township Stadium.
The match is part of the ongoing season 2012/2013 Nigeria Professional Football League.
The match’s first half ended goalless, in spite of hosts Kaduna United’s dominance, which was characterised by the loss of numerous goalscoring chances.
Ali Adams, however, scored for the home side from a free-kick at the edge of the penalty box in the 78th minute of the match, which witnessed heavy rainfall.
Speaking shortly after the match, Kaduna United’s coach, Ben Duamlong, expressed confidence in his team’s abilities to ensure they ended the season among the best.
Duamlong said: “We can still get something from the league.
“This club will not be relegated, if we put in more efforts to win our upcoming matches.”
Duamlong however expressed disappointment with his players’ inability to convert numerous goalscoring chances.
Also speaking after the match, Dolphin’s Coach, Stanley Eguma, expressed dissatisfaction with his team, saying his players would still need to work harder.
Eguma said: “The aspiration for a ticket to play on the continent next season seems unattainable now.
“But we will struggle hard to remain in the league for the coming season.”
