Watford are keeping tabs on Super Eagles defender, Azubuike Egwuekwe.
Egwuekwe currently plays for Warri Wolves and has made 31 appearances for his country, scoring one goal.
It is his international performances that have drawn attention to the imposing centre-half, with Watford not the only rumoured club looking at a potential move.
The 25-year-old will be available to sign in January and will be available for the rest of the season as Nigeria, the reigning champions, failed to qualify for this season’s African Cup of Nations.
Comparisons have been drawn between Egwuekwe and fellow Nigerian, Joseph Yobo, who made over 200 appearances for Everton and who is currently on loan at Norwich City.
The 6ft 5″ defender has had stints at Yerima Strikers and Nasawara United in his professional career.
However he has no experience of European football and specifically English football.
It is uncertain as to whether Egwuekwe will be able to make the significant step-up to life in the second tier of English football.
However it could be the opportunity for him to blossom and receive wider attention.
