The Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Babayo Gagdi, and two members of the House have submitted their letters of intention to decamp to the All Progressives Congress.
The lawmakers, who were members of the PDP before they decamped, made the presentation on Tuesday on the floor of the House.
They blamed the PDP for gross impunity and non inclusion of faithful in the affairs of the party.
Information available to The Eagle Online has it that the Deputy Speaker, who is the PDP Leader in the state, became frustrated with the antics of the party.
He was said to have excluded from several meetings held by the party officials in the state.
The PDP Chairman in the State, Hon. Damishi Sango, was recently accused by the party members of being a selfish leader who had introduced divide and rule to favour some section of the PDP in his agenda.
Speaking with newsmen, the member representing Dengi Constituency, Hon. Sale Shehu Yipmong, said APC is gradually standing on the rock in Plateau State, stressing that with the decamping of more members, PDP will certainly lose its grip.
Yipmong expressed confidence that the APC family will be fair to all members, adding: “We are ready to open our doors for wider consultation with those that are willing to join the party for the progress of the state and Nigeria.”
The Plateau State House of Assembly member representing Dengi also made a case for the inclusion of the North Central in area of government’s intervention to cushion the effect of the crisis.
He said: “Plateau State is one of the states that was seriously affected by sectarian crises where houses, properties and lives were lost.
“So government should take the statistics of communities that are devastated and should be considered.
“We want those communities affected to return and receive adequate attention from government.”
Yimpong saluted the courage of the Speaker for moving more members to decampe to the APC government toward strengthening the party’s internal mechanism.
He said: “The party really wants to develop Nigeria because a lot of things have changed for better under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari in the area of diversification of the economy through agriculture.”
