The Electoral Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation on Thursday in Abuja announced the guidelines for the elections into the association’s board holding on August 26.
A statement by NFA’s Assistant Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, quoted the committee’s Chairman, Amoni Biambo, as saying the guidelines were in line with the yearnings of the Nigerian football stakeholders.
He said: “We have taken into careful consideration the yearnings of everyone in the Nigerian football family for a level-playing field for all.
“And we have decided to slightly extend the deadline for the endorsement and collections of forms, which has also affected slightly other deadlines.
“We are committed to holding the elections as earlier scheduled and our responsibility is to play the role of an impartial, unbiased umpire in the entire process to ensure fairness for all.”
Biambo added that the endorsement and submission of forms would now take place between July 31 and 6pm on August 4.
He added: “Screening of candidates, endorsement and release of names of eligible candidates will take place between Tuesday, August 5 and Wednesday, August 6.
“Protests/Appeals against candidates will be entertained latest on Monday, August 11, while the election proper holds on Tuesday, August 26.”
Biambo added that NFF’s Electoral Committee would do everything possible to ensure free and fair elections.
He said: “We will do everything possible to guarantee free and fair elections which will do justice to the name of Nigeria in the comity of football-playing countries.”
