Six women have emerged as candidates for the All Progressives Congress after the just concluded party primaries for the June 25 Local Government Election.
Speaking to newsmen on Sunday in Yola, the party’s State Organizing Secretary, Alhaji Ahmed Lawan, said one woman won the chairmanship ticket, while five others won councillorship tickets.
“Mrs. Wale Fwa won the chairmanship ticket for Demsa Local Government, while we have two women who won councillorship ticket in Mayo-Belwa Local Government and one woman each that won councillorship ticket in Yola North, Mubi North and Jada Local Governments,” Lawan said.
Lawan, who did not give the number of women that participated in the primaries, said the primaries for the 21 chairmanship and 226 councilllorship candidates were conducted peacefully.
He said: “We only have one complaint regarding the chairmanship election from Guyuk Local Government that will be looked into by the Appeal Committee.”
Lawan commended party members for their orderly conduct, adding that the APC was confident of sweeping the polls.
