The Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Jide Adejuyigbe, on Wednesday said any headmaster of principal caught collecting unauthorised fees in the state’s public schools would face the music.
Speaking with newsmen in Akure, the commissioner warned those involved in such practice to desist from doing so in their own interest.
He said that only schools with boarding facilities were allowed to collect fees for the feeding of students and their uniforms, reiterating that “education is free in Ondo State”.
Adejuyigbe, who commended public schools in the state for their performance, urged them to continue to improve in the new academic session.
He said that the schools should ensure that they complete their curricula within schedule in the academic session.
Adejuyigbe called on the teachers do their work effectively and efficiently, to ensure good results among the students.
The commissioner also appealed to parents to cooperate with school authorities and provide necessary tools for their children, to aid learning and excellent results in their academics.
