Governor Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa State on Wednesday queried Alhaji Na’annabi Ahmad, the state’s Acting Head of the Civil Service, for coming late to the office.
Malam Muhammad Zaki, the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the governor, made the disclosure in a statement issued to newsmen in Dutse.
The statement said Ahmad was queried after Badaru paid an unscheduled visit to the state secretariat by 9am on Wednesday.
The statement said: “Governor Muhammad Badaru has queried the Acting Head, State Civil Service, Alhaji Na’Annabi Ahmad for not being on his seat by nine o’ clock in the morning on Wednesday.
“The governor, who made an unscheduled visit to the new secretariat minutes after 9 a.m. ordered the closure of the secretariat’s gate.”
It said that during the visit, Badaru met very few civil servants at the secretariat.
The statement said the governor however met some Permanent Secretaries on their seats during the visit.
It added that the governor directed the immediate issuance of written warning to officials who were not on their seat when the governor visited.
It said Badaru warned public officers that his administration would not tolerate lateness, absenteeism and laxity.
