No fewer than 80 students have resumed for the session at the newly-opened Delta State campus of the Deeper Life High School, Opete, in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.
The formal opening of the Delta State campus makes a total of 16 campuses of the school, which began with seven campuses in 2010 nationwide.
Established by the national leadership of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, led by Pastor William Folurunsho Kumuyi, the school is designed to equip students to compete with the advance world of Information and Communication Technology, hence each child has a laptop computer, e-Notes and a fully automated e-Learning process with full multimedia.
Addressing the students drawn from Port Harcourt, Edo and Delta States on Wednesday, the Delta State Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor Obinna Nkemjika, said the school was established to restore the fallen standard of education and bring back the glory of schools in the early years of independence.
Pastor Nkemjika said the entrance of the school into the nation’s education system was not an addition to the plethora of schools dotting the nation’s landscape but a befitting institution designed to revitalize the education system in Nigeria.
He told the parents, executives of Udu Local Government Council and senior pastors of the church who gathered at the hall of the school, that the goal of the school was to operate a qualitative co-educational boarding institution, which is captured in the school’s mission statement.
The mission statement is: “To produce students who are academically well grounded, morally upright and adequately equipped as future leaders.”
According to Nkemjika, the school has ultra modern state-of-the-art-facilities and structures, male and female hostels, principal’s and staff quarters, e-learning boards, expansive multi-purpose hall, dining, kitchen and a magnificent gate house, adding that the facilities in the school could compete with those in Cambridge, Oxford and other other advanced world’s institutions.
The Principal of the school, Peter Osiki, said the school was set to train students who would become great men and women equipped with the necessary skills to transform Nigeria for good.
Osiki said: “We are ready to ensure students attain high standard in their academic pursuits.
“We welcome constructive criticisms, but most especially godly counsel from parents and well wishers and for those still searching for school to send their children, Deeper Life High School is the school.”
It could be recalled that the school has campuses in Lagos, the national administrative headquarters, Port Harcourt, Benin, Oshogbo, Ibadan, Ilorin, Akure, Abeokuta, Yola, Onitsha, Abuja, Ado-Ekiti, Enugu, Calabar, Kaduna and Warri in Delta State.
