The Women Arise Initiative, a non-governmental organisation, on Friday held a rally in Lagos to seek concerted efforts in rescuing schoolgirls abducted 200 days ago in Chibok, Borno State.
More than 200 students of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State were kidnapped on April 14 by the Boko Haram sect.
Addressing the rally at the Allen Roundabout, Ikeja, Lagos State, the President of Women Arise, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, said that there was the need for Nigerians to remain vigilant in assisting security agencies to locate the missing girls.
“Terrorism is a global threat and we must join hands to fight it,” Okei-Odumakin said.
She expressed concern that the abducted schoolgirls were still missing.
She said: Our hearts still grieve.
“It is worrisome and heartbreaking.
“Government must be more responsive in making sure that the girls are rescued.
“We are tired of waiting.
“Government, security agencies and all well meaning Nigerians must be more proactive.”
