The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Friday received the campaign team of Otunba Gbenga Daniel with assurances of the members’ mass support in his bid for the national chairmanship of the party.
Welcoming the team, the party Chairman in the State, Senator Mohammed Hassan, said they were happy to have Daniel and his team in Zamfara State in continuation of his nationwide tour.
Hassan said: “Your Excellency, I have a lot of respect for you.
“About this time yesterday, I was in Niger Republic, but I had to cut my business trip short to be able to receive you.
“We have seen the massive development you initiated and executed in Ogun State.
“We don’t want a chairman who will be too old to work.
“We want a young chairman like you who can still run around and ensure victory for PDP.
“Let me convey the message of our father, General Aliyu Gusau (retd), who is unavoidably absent.
“He asked me to tell you that you should feel relaxed in Zamfara because you are at home.”
Continuing, Hassan stated that Zamfara PDP was ready for the national convention in December.
“All the delegates are here, they will hear what you have to say to them and I’m sure by December when we meet in Abuja, you will emerge as our chairman, insha Allah,” he added.
In response, Daniel thanked the party in the state and the members for their show of love and support.
He said: “I greet all our leaders, my boss, retired General Aliyu Gusau, my friends Bashir Yuguda and Bello Matawalle.
“All around the country, our people are clamouring to change the change they made two years ago.
“I’m here to offer myself to lead the struggle.
“All of us will do it together and Insha Allah, PDP will come back to power in 2019.”
Earlier, Daniel and his entourage paid condolence visit to the family of late Coordinator for Zamfara State, AbdulHadi Seidu Yan’ware, who died recently.
Commiserating with the bereaved family, he expressed his shock on hearing the sad news and prayed for the repose of his soul as he assured the family of his continual support.
Responding of behalf of the family, Alhaji Abubakar Usman appreciated Daniel’s gestures to the family since the demise of Abdulhadi.
Usman said: “We take solace in the belief that only God knows tomorrow.
“I have seen a great leadership quality in you since the time I came to Sagamu when you lost your father.
“You didn’t know me then, but I have since known you are still going higher.
“I assure you that our people are with you.”
