The leadership of the Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide on behalf of the entire great youths and good people of Yorubaland has condoled with the entire Sofola family over the demise of Chief Idowu Sofola (SAN).
The Council in a statement by its President, Aremo Dotun Hassan, described Sofola as a great icon of peace and uncommon legal artistry.
Sofola was former General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association and President, Yoruba Council of Elders.
Hassan said in the statement: “We will forever miss your fatherly guidance and undoubtedly your positive impacts in the sands of time, the Yoruba affairs and by extension Nigeria as a whole, especially at these perilous and challenging times ranging from demands for restructuring and true people’s constitution, lack of genuine will power to fight corruption, growing spate of degradation and violation of social justice rights and rule of law to mention a few are ripples we are currently confronted with as nation.
“You indeed left a huge lacuna yet to be filled, your words of wisdom and embodiments of honour will forever be felt many years to come.
“However, we take solace in your teachings and positive postulations on peace and nation building.
“We shall continually strife to defend the Yoruba interests and protect the rights and welfare of Nigerians at all times.
“May God Almighty grant your family, friends and associates, the government and good people of Ogun State, entire Yoruba land and Nigerians the fortitude to bear the great loss.
“We pray for Aljanah Fridaus and may Almighty Allah grant you eternal rest.”
