The Yobe State Police Command has said that a new Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, has been deployed to the state.
This was contained in a statement by the Spokesman of the Command, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, in Damaturu on Monday.
Abdulkarim said that Garba, the 31st Commissioner of Police in the state, took over from Yahaya Abubakar, who had been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
The new CP hails from Kogi State and holds a BSc Political Science and Administration from the University of Maiduguri as well as MSc International Relations from the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Abdulkarim added in the statement: “He was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on March 3, 1990.
“He has held Tactical and Strategic leadership positions in various departments of the Force across the Country.
“Until his deployment as the Commissioner of Police, Police Command in Yobe, he was the DCP in charge of State CID in the state.
“He possess vast experience in law enforcement, public order management and public safety, intellectual property crime, fundamental human rights, Crime Control and Community Policing.”
The spokesman called on the general public to give the new CP maximum cooperation to enable him to discharge his duties effectively.
