The National Chairman of the Progressive Peoples Alliance, Chief Sam Nkire, has described the former Governor of Kaduna State, Mr. Patrick Yakowa, as “a good man, gone too soon.”
Nkire said the sudden death of the governor in the helicopter crash in Bayelsa State on Saturday, was not just a loss to Nigeria but a big loss to a small community of men of conscience in the country.
The PPA national chairman, who described the late governor as an old colleague and a friend, said Kaduna State would certainly miss the governor’s vast administrative experience.
He added that he was one of the most experienced public servants in Nigeria, having been local government chairman, permanent secretary, commissioner, minister, Secretary to the State Government and Deputy Governor among others.
He said let Governor Yakowa was one of the few modest state governors who did not allow high office get into his head or make him arrogant and proud.
Nkire said since he met Yakowa, when they were both commissioners in their two states about 20 years ago, he had remained a lesson in humility and selfless service.
