West Ham stake £1.3m on Emenike

English Premier League side, West Ham, have staked £1.3 million on Nigerian striker, Emmanuel Emenike.
The Hammers paid a £760,000 loan fee, the player’s wages thought to be £36,000 per week, plus a £9,500 per match appearance bonus.
With 15 weeks of the season remaining, that’s an investment of £540,000 in wages even if he doesn’t play, which is £1.3 million in total.
Emenike will miss Tuesday’s game with Aston Villa under the Boleyn Ground lights after it was not possible to register him before the 12pm deadline on Monday.
The 28-year-old Nigerian has yet to receive international clearance and until then the player can not be registered.
A source close to the club said: “We never said he would be eligible to play on Tuesday night, we need to get his international clearance sorted first. We will clarify on WHUFC.com later.”
Meanwhile, West Ham United’s Joint-Chairman, David Sullivan, says he hopes the Nigerian international will score bags of goals for his new club.
“We hope he (Emenike) will bring goals and we have an option to sign him at the end of the season,” Sullivan told his club’s official website.
Sullivan and club Secretary, Andrew Pincher, worked hard to get the deal done after having to negotiate with both Fenerbahce and Al-Ain where Emenike has been on loan in the United Arab Emirates this season.
“Our manager knows him from Turkey and Russia and says he is a very good player. He is very fast and you can never have enough goals or pace in any team.
“It took two weeks of tortuous negotiations and hard work by myself and our club secretary Andrew Pincher to get the player to the club. It was one of the most difficult deals we have ever done as we were dealing with two clubs not one.
“I would publicly like to thank Andrew, as he really is an unsung hero of the club, for all his hard work on this transfer, all the other transfers we have done in the last few years and the dozens we tried to do and failed with.”
