The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation on Thursday vowed that members of the PDP would work together to checkmate the incoming administration of General Muhammadu Buhari.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the PDPPCO, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, stated this in Abuja,
Fani-Kayode spoke at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja shortly after the presentation of the election report by the PDPPCO to President Goodluck Jonathan.
The former Minister of Aviation assured Nigerians that he would collaborate with other PDP members to rebuild the party with a view to returning it into power in 2019.
Fani-Kayode expressed the firm of optimism that the move would help, greatly, to place Nigeria on the path of success.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the PDPPCO dismissed insinuations that he would rejoin the All Progressives Congress.
He made it pointedly clear that he would have nothing to do with the incoming ruling party where he spent about nine months as a member.
His words: “The fact of the matter is that I have been in the PDP since 2003.
“I went to the APC for nine months and I have enunciated the reason for that and I felt that I was absolutely right to do that at that point in time.
“I retraced my steps when it was very clear to me that what was on the other side was far worse than what was on our side.
“We made our point, the necessary concession made within the PDP, there was far more south western participation, there was much more virile fight against Boko Haram and that’s why we came back.
“And I came back and I played a leading role in this campaign.
“We are not going anywhere.
“I can speak for myself and I can speak for many others.
“We are here to stay.
“We will provide a virile opposition to the APC.
“We will do all that is needed to be done to ensure that the incoming government remains on its toes and we will all do this in a very peaceful and honourable way.
“Nobody is going anywhere as far as I am concerned.
“None of us is running away.
“There is nothing to be scared of.
“We fought hard, we did well.
“I am very proud of my team.
“I am proud of my President and our campaign organisation and we will continue in the trenches until this country is on the road to success.
“We will continue to do that.”
