The Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, on Wednesday disclosed that no fewer than N3 trillion ($9.6 billion) infrastructure were lost in the North East to Boko Haram attacks.
Shettima made this disclosure when leaders from the North Came to show appreciation to the National Assembly members for the passage of North East Development Commission.
He said Borno State lost $6.7 billion out of the amount to the insurgency.
Enumerating the disaster in Borno State, Shettima said 30 per cent of buildings were destroyed by Boko Haram, 201 health Centres and 650 municipal buildings.
He added that many local governments were over run by the insurgents and towns were destroyed in Adamawa State.
He said: “It will be a major addition to what we are already doing in the state.
“We thank he National Assembly for giving us this bill to fast track development in the region.
“Our coming is non-partisan, non-ethnic.
“The problem of $9.6 billion was inflicted us.
“We felt we should show support for your initiative.”
