Watford has parted ways with Nigerian midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo.
The club’s website confirmed Ben Foster and Andre Gray would also be leaving with their expiring deals not renewed.
This news will come as little surprise to fans.
Indeed, Foster’s departure had long been known, while Gray spent the season out on loan with Queens Park Rangers – meaning a future in Hertfordshire was always unlikely.
Etebo will now return to parent club Stoke City having made just nine Premier League appearances during his stay.
A parting statement on the club website said: “We thank the departing player for his contributions and wish them the best of luck for the next steps in their careers.”
With Rob Edwards taking over as manager, it will be interesting to see what sort of targets are identified in the summer transfer market to replace the departing players.
However, more first-team exits can also be expected with the likes of Emmanuel Dennis and Ismaila Sarr both likely to leave in the near future.
