The Publisher of Vanguard newspaper, Sam Amuka, on Tuesday lauded the effort of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Edgal Imohimi, at curbing crime and criminality in the state, urging him never to relent.
Amuka gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police.
He said: “I am here to appreciate you for the good work you are doing in Lagos State.
“Your work speaks for itself and Lagosians are proud of you.
“Keep it up.”
Earlier in his welcome remark, the CP described the visit as a rare honour bestowed on him and thanked the veteran journalist for finding time to visit despite his busy schedule. Imohimi further assured Uncle Sam, as Amuka is popularly known, that any advice from him would be taken seriously.
The CP said: “I feel highly honoured because it is rare to see a publisher of any newspaper, more so the publisher of a widely acclaimed, well read and respected paper like Vanguard.
“If you have criticism about any of our activities in the state, please feel free to do so.
“Such criticism will not only be welcome but must be taken seriously because they are fatherly advice geared towards reducing crimes and making life bearable for Lagosians.
“We will take whatever advice you throw our way to improve on what we have done so far.”
