The University of Lagos Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association held her third Annual General Meeting on February 27, 2020 at the Faculty.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Engr. Oye Eribake; the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Funso Falade; as well as the outgoing Chairman, Engr. Titi Omo-Ettu, showered praises on the outgoing Executive, which tenure witnessed tremendous progress in the life of the Association.
Some of the major achievements of the Executive were listed as successful hosting of the second and third UNILAGFEAA lecture delivered by Engr. Dideolu Falobi, Managing Director, Kresta Laurel Limited and Babajide Sanwoolu, Governor of Lagos State respectively; endowment of N50 million Professorial Chair in the Department of Surveying and Geo-informatics, as well as Electrical and Electronic Engineering for the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Lagos by Sanwo-Olu and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State respectively; completion of the faculty’s WEBINAR Centre sponsored by one of the sets in conjunction with the faculty; and construction of an E-laboratory for the department of Surveying and Geo-informatics at the Faculty of Engineering, courtesy of Governor Sanwo-Olu in conjunction with the Faculty.
Falade seized the opportunity to invite all the members of the Alumni Association to the Hooding Ceremony for the graduates on March 10, 2020 at 2pm at the Faculty of Engineering, Julius Berger Hall on the Campus.
The highlights of the AGM included the election of a new Executive to be led by Engr. Falobi and a presentation on: “The Infrastructural Renewal Programme of the Faculty’s Facilities.”
The presentation focused on the construction of a students’ study centre and the remodeling and vertical extension of some of the existing buildings in the faculty.
In his acceptance speech, Falobi pledged the commitment of the new executive to the realisation of the dreams of the founders of the Association being the deployment of the Association as a tool for the restoration of the faculty to its glory days, mentoring of students and networking among members.
Falobi then appealed to all members of the Alumni Association to join hands with him and the executive in the delivery on the mandate.
He also reassured the Dean of the readiness of the Alumni to be part of the Hooding ceremony.
