TV station accuses Nyako of intimidation

The management of an Adamawa State based television station, TV Gotel, has petitioned the state’s police command over strange threat calls made to its official by the Chief Security Officer of Governor Murtala Nyako.
The company, Gotel Communications Limited, in a letter dated January 22, 2013, alleged that one of its staff members, Shekarau Yerima, had been receiving threat calls from a particular mobile number (details withheld) purportedly from the CSO to Nyako.
A letter of complaint from Yerima to the management of the company stated that on January 22, 2013, at 10.36am, he got another of such telephone call wherein the caller identified himself as the CSO to Governor Nyako, warning him to desist from featuring personalities who attack the state governor, or rather get “eliminated by death or facilities of the company will be destroyed.”
It was consequent upon this that the company did a petition to the state police, soliciting for police intervention into the allegation made by Yerima.
The petition reads thus: “I wish to notify you of another threat call to a staff member of Gotel Communications Limited from a caller who identified himself as the Chief Security Officer to His Excellency, Governor Murtala Nyako.
“The management wishes to lodge yet another complaint and solicit for your support and other necessary actions to be taken accordingly.”
Efforts to get the reaction of the Adamawa State Government to the allegation remained fruitless as at the time of filling this report, as calls placed to the telephone lines of some of its officials did not got through.
