Tragedy was averted on Friday morning when a diesel tanker veered off the main lanes of Ikorodu Road inward Ikorodu and landed on its side on the service lane by Ketu pedestrian bridge.
The tanker, which appears to have lost its brakes, did not, however, run into the bridge or any other vehicle.
Nobody was also hurt.
There was a slight traffic at the scene, although traffic officers were on hand to control the situation.
Fire brigade and traffic officers had rushed to the scene as the remaining contents of the empty tanker spilled onto the road.
A crowd gathered on the bridge and the sides of the road, watching the scene.
A few metres away, a man was seen salvaging some diesel with a piece of foam into a plastic bag.
