Teachers registration council registers 1.8m teachers nationwide- Minister

The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, says the Teachers registration Council of Nigerian has so far registered 1.8 million teachers in the country.

The Minister disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday at the flagging-off of children enrolment campaign in Bauchi.
Represented by Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, Registrar of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, Adamu said this would ensure that Nigerians get qualitative education at all levels.
He said: “We have registered close to 1.8 million teachers all over the country. This year we are going after the unqualified teachers and we will make sure that our school system is rid of unqualified teachers.
“Anyone that will stand in our classroom must be qualified, registered and licensed by the teacher’s registration council of Nigeria.
“So, from this year we are going out for those quacks; those unqualified teachers, to make sure that our school system has the best qualified teachers to handle our children.”
On the state of Education in Kaduna State, the minister said that “the issue is being addressed by the appropriate authorities and normalcy will soon be restored”.
Adamu said: “The issue in Kaduna State is being address and I am sure very soon everybody will smile.
“You can see now that the teachers are back. They have suspended the strike and very soon, the school system will pick up again in Kaduna State.”
Adamu urged teachers in the country to discharge their responsibilities as required by law.
He added: “They have to be up doing, they have to discharge their duties to our children.”
