The passage of the bill Tuesday at plenary followed the consideration of a report by Committee on Health (Tertiary and Secondary).

Chairman of the committee, Sen. Ibrahim Oloriegbe (APC-Kwara), made the call in Abuja on Monday at an interactive session with executive members of MDCN.

The Federal Government provided N800 million in the 2020 budget and N729 million in 2021 for disbursement to cancer patients.

The Senators present at the budget defence of the Ministry of Health wondered how the Ministry came up with such proposal despite the N450 million provided in 2022 budget to tackle Malaria in the ministry.

Chairman of the committee, Sen. Ibrahim Oloriegbe, issued the summons on Monday at a public hearing on “The need to regulate the manufacturing, importation and use of syringes and needles to protect the lives and safety of Nigerians as well as the economy of the country.”

Lamentations to these effects were made by Senators and some stakeholders in the health sector during a Public Hearing session on Bills seeking for establishments of health related institutions and Council and Development Fund organised by the Senate Committee on Health.
