The Executive Vice-Chairman of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, gave the advice at the 79th Telecom Consumers Parliament help in Abuja.
Danbatta said that the parliament, with its theme: “Implementation of the ‘Do not Disturb’: the journey so far,” was aimed at sensitising the public to the policy
Danbatta, represented by Funlola Akiode, the Director, Licensing and Authorisation, made this known in Lagos at the 1st Annual Forum on Engineering and Emerging Technologies in the Communications Industry
Danbatta said that there were immense investment opportunities in the Nigeria’s ICT sector as well as protection on investment.
He also said that there would be quick returns on investment due to the huge population of the country
“On the percentage of internet penetration, the country has reached a milestone of 47.44 per cent, second to South Africa in the continent.”
Danbatta said that the Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development was set up by the International Telecommunication Union and UNESCO in 2010

The ceremony, which held in Brussels, Belgium, was hosted by the European Society for Quality Research, an affiliate of the European Union.
The statement added that no fewer than 63 countries participated in the award, out of which the NCC won the European Award for Best Practices 2016

Danbatta, who gave a keynote address entitled: “State of the Industry, A Regulator’s Perspective,” recalled that before 2001, few people had access to telephone and the internet
Danbatta said this during a meeting with newsmen from the North West, North Central and FCT in Kano, where he presented the Commission’s eight-point agenda.
