“We have completed three weeks of campaign ‘Return to Life with wonderful news,’” Health Minister Yuli Edelstein tweeted on Sunday, saying that 1.817 million of Israel’s 9.2 million residents had received the first jab of the US-German Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
Two hospital trusts in London, as well as one in southern England, one in northern England, one in the Midlands and one in Oxford, where the vaccine was co-developed, will be the first to give the jab.
The move marks the start of a historic vaccination campaign aimed at checking a raging virus that is killing no fewer than 2,000 Americans daily.
“There are 50 hospital hubs and we know the vaccine will reach those to enable people start vaccinating on Tuesday,” the NHS official told the BBC broadcaster.
