Sambo, who pointed out that the crude oil theft had made Nigeria to lose huge resources, which could have easily been used in developing schools, putting in energy and many other transformation programmes that would impact positively on the people, sought the support and partnership of the United States and other members of the international community to tackle the menace

“You know our economy is still dependent on oil until we move it away from oil, that is why some of us are emphasizing creating an economy beyond oil” According to the Governor, he has already initiated the “Delta beyond oil” programme which he noted was aimed at focusing on other areas of revenue other than total reliance on oil

The two accused persons illegally conveyed 136 plastic drums of petroleum products in a truck with registration number XN 789 EGU at Egbidi, Isoko Local Government Area of Delta State in 2009 without a licence and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 3(6) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act Cap. M17, laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2007 and punishable under Section 1(17) of the same act
