The Executive Secretary, National Board for Technical Education, Prof. Idris Bugaje, has disclosed that over 30,000 Nigerian Higher National Diploma holders have applied for its top-up programme.
The program which was announced by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) allows HND holders who aspire to pursue an academic career to upgrade their qualifications and obtain a Bachelor’s degree. By acquiring a higher academic degree, technologies can enhance their teaching capabilities, broaden their knowledge base, and potentially qualify for higher positions and salary scales within the Polytechnic system.
The National Board for Technical Education has unveiled an online top-up programme for Higher National Diploma holders to convert their certification to Bachelor’s Degree for one year, with foreign accredited universities.
The Proprietor of the institution, David Abuluya, stated this while briefing newsmen ahead of the July 11 to 14 inspection visit to the school by the NBTE team.
The development came a week after issuing a similar directive for the closure of all universities in the country.
Specifically reviewed are the National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Open, Distance and Flexible e-Learning (ODFeL) Courseware in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET).
The approval followed the reports of resources inspection conducted by the Board in December, 2022.
