The minister made this known while receiving a delegation from the National Fish Association of Nigeria led by its National President, Dr. Gabriel Ogunsanya, in Abuja on Tuesday

He said the situation was worsened by the closure of the country’s land borders with neighbouring countries, making importation difficult.

The Federal Government on Tuesday inaugurated the executive officers of the National Fish Association of Nigeria as part of efforts to reposition the fish sub-sector to meet increasing local demand.
